All our St Pats future stars played very well; Thomas Sheehy, Zach Howarth, Eddie Stack, Orlaith Murphy and Mark O’Brien and Jamie Lynch defended well and gave it their all trying to keep the opposition from scoring.

In the middle Diarmuid Waugh and Daniel Sheehy worked hard around the middle and linked up nicely with our forwards. Up front our scorer-in-chief, Fionn Dairo got some great scores.

He was ably assisted by Millie O’Brien, Rory Kelliher, Killian O’Mahony, Grainne Breen and Kayla O’Connor. All the coaches were delighted with the effort each player gave at the blitz.

Even though there is no academy for a month it is important ye keep practicing yer skills at home during the break, enjoy & see ye all fit and well on 21st of August..Naomh Padraig Abu !!

U12’s Mixed: Our mixed u12 team travelled to Fitzgerald stadium, Killarney last Thursday to take part in the Munster U12 blitz. The team played 3 games against Aghabullogue and Lee Gaels both from Cork as well as Ballylanders from Limerick, coming out with an excellent victory in their last match against Aghabullogue. Every team member did themselves and the club proud and behaved impeccably throughout the day. Players were treated to a well deserved meal in McDonald’s afterwards. No doubt our starts will return to the Fizgerald Stadium again very soon. Accompanying Liam Poff and the team were Tommy Lynch, Brenda Doody, Martina Dairo and Danny Greaney.

Seniors

Annascaul 0-07 St Pats 0-10

St Pats made the short trip back west to Paddy Kennedy Memorial Park on a dull and windy Sunday afternoon to play Annascaul in Round 9 of the County League.

The game threatened to boil over on a number of occasions with 7 yellow cards in total dished out by the referee to both teams. The first point of the match didn’t come until the 6th minute from a free taken by David O’Callaghan after Luke Mulligan was fouled. St Pats went two up three minutes later when Willie Hurley pointed from play.

The home side responded with 3 points in succession by James Crean, Jason Hickson from a free and Emmet Kennedy. The equalising point from St Pats was scored by corner-back, Paudie O’Connor, who happened to score his first ever point for St Pats.

The highlight of the half came in the 20th minute when Kieran O’Sullivan put his body on the line to prevent a goal from veteran, Genie Farrell and the resultant loose ball fell onto the path of James Crean, who drove it wide when it was easier to score.

The last point of this low scoring half was from a free taken by James Crean to leave the scores at Annascaul 0-04 St Pats 0-03.

St Pats started the second half with a point from Kieran Hurley after 3 minutes to bring the sides level once again and he followed this by scoring another point, this time from a free.

Annascaul regrouped after surrendering the lead by scoring 2 points in the 35th and 36th minutes from a fisted point by Emmet Kennedy and James Crean respectively.

This was to be their last score until the dying minutes of the second half. The St Pats management team made a tactical switch by deploring Liam O’Sullivan into the  middle of the park and it paid dividends as the away side had the lion share of possession in this half, winning everything in mid-field.

The momentum was now with St Pats as they further stretched their lead with a point from captain Luke Mulligan and  4 points from Kieran Hurley, including a sideline free from an acute angle with his left foot. Annascaul’s last point, the third in the half, came in the 59th minute from Jason Hickson.

This only goes to show the extent of St Pats domination of the game and the scores could have been a lot more but for the amount of wides, some from scorable positions registered by St Pats. It was a great team performance spearheaded by Kieran O’Sullivan, Adrian Greaney, Liam O’Sullivan, Brendan Poff and Kieran Hurley

St. Pats: Paudi Bailey, Paudie O’Connor (0-1), Kieran O’Sullivan, Jake Foley, Jordan Conway, Adrian Greaney, Kevin O’Shea, Liam O’Sullivan, Paul McMahon, Luke Mulligan, Brendan Poff, Gary Savage, David O’Callaghan (0-1,1f), Willie Hurley (0-2), Kieran Hurley (0-6, 1f)

We are away to Gneeveguilla in a back-game fixture this Friday, the 29th July in the County League. Throw-in is at 7.30pm. Please come and show your support for the team. Naomh Padraig Abu!
