Minors:

St Pats Blennerville 3-16 Beale 4-8

We opened our County League campaign on Saturday last , when we defeated Beale by 5 points in Ballybunnion in Round 1 of the competition. This was a game of swaying fortunes, as both teams enjoyed periods of dominance over the hour. The home side dominated the initial 10 minutes as their attack were much to the fore against  our defence and built up a 3 point lead [0-4 to 0-1]. However our top scorer, Josh Laucher levelled the game one minute later, when he struck to the net from close range. We gradually got to grips with the game thanks mainly to the likes of Jordan Conway [who played a captains part all through],Jack Quilter, Brandon Boyle, Tommy Lynch and tormentor in chief Kieran Dwyer and by the 28th minute, led by 1-7 to 1-5.

Unfortunately we were caught napping once again and conceded a 2nd goal to put us one point behind[2-5 to 1-7] seconds before the half time whistle.

With the aid of the breeze and Aidan`s lengthy kickouts in the 2nd half, we seemed to settle quicker and took over the game and by the 12th minute we led 2-13 to 2-6 with Josh also supplying our 2nd goal. Similar to the first half, the home side towards the end of the game pounces on lapses of concentration by us and slotted in 2 goals to bring the deficit down to the bare minimum with time almost up. Thankfully, deep in injury time, Brandon Boyle pointed from play and Aidan O“Halloran[who was transferred up to the attack midway through the 2nd half] put away a well taken goal to give us valuable breathing space.

Along with the aforementioned players, others to the fore for us on the day were Anthony Craig Killian O`Riordan and Cian Rohan. Full marks also to Referee, Brendan Griffin of Clounmacon who looks to have a long career with the whistle. Our next scheduled game is this Saturday 7th March @ 4 PM, when we take on Churchill in Round 2 of the County League in Blennerville.

Team: Aidan O`Halloran[1-0], Anthony Craig, Killian Quirke, Shane O`Donoghue, Sean Dowling, Killian O`Riordan, Jack Quilter[0-1], Jordan Conway[C] [0-3], Tommy Lynch[0-3], Brandon Boyle[0-2], Cian Ronan[0-1], Kieran Dwyer[0-4] and Josh Laucher[2-2].

Subs who played: Eoin Greaney, Sean Hogan, Jack Lynch, Micheal Murphy and Alex Walsh.
