Academy

U6’s: Our U6’s had their training session indoors in Blennerville School. Well done to those who attended with Jace and Rylan Flynn, Grace Costello, Jayden Sinnott and Aoife Kennedy showing great skill and determination.

U8’s: Our u8 boys and girls had a good outing last Sunday despite the poor weather and everyone involved had lots of fun learning their skills. We are having our last training session of the year, so it is important that all kids attend this final session.

U10’s: The St. Pats under 10’s Boys & Girls were in academy action last Sunday. We had a great turnout and everyone put in a great effort during the session with Orlaith Murphy, Daniel Sheehy, Kayla O’Connor and Rory Kelleher giving it their all during the session. It is important that ye all keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. We are due to have our last Academy session of the year next Sunday so hope to see ye all there for some fun games. Ladies Team

St Pats ladies team is reforming. Training is every Friday evening at 7.15pm in St Pats field. New players are welcome. Contact Helen Tansley 087 7631977 for further details.

Mothers and others

A very successful first for the St Pats mothers and others who headed for Portmarnok on Friday for the annual Gaelic for mothers tournament in Dublin .

This was a very well organised day and as the day went on St Pats seemed to go from strength to strength and considering this was their first outing, there is huge potential.

Bridget O’ Riordan was outstanding throughout the competition in goals and made some great saves. Sharina O’ Sullivan, a debutant to football, blocked ball after ball in cornerback. Catherine McGivegian held the ship in full back and rolled backed the years with some outstanding defending throughout. Kay Griffin, who played both in the backs and the forwards made some important interceptions and set up some great scores and stood tall when defending .

Karen Fenix played in the backs in all 5 games and made two important blocks to prevent two certain goals. Marc O’ Se would have been proud!

Cathy Sheehan who is another who was making her debut to football had a great tournament while defending with great heart and courage, blocking ball after ball.

The mid-field pairing of Therese Greaney and Tracey Corkery covered every blade of grass on the field over the 5 games! Their fitness was key to winning so many of our games. Therese got on the score board over the course of the 5 games and played a captain’s role while Tracey defended and was the link between the forwards and the backs.

Helen O’Shea also covered a huge amount of ground even though she was in the full forward line. She set up many of our scores and she got on the score sheet in all of the games. Teresa O’Brien showed us her many footballing skills over the course of the 5 hours and the highlight was her back pass to Helen. It was one of sheer class that Sky Sports will be showing in the future!

Niamh Collins played very well in both full forward and mid-field positions and showed great strength in both positions and set up some great scores. Ruth Murphy played in corner forward and created great chances for her teammates and the high light was a well taken goal which was the winning of the last game for us. Unfortunately we were missing three star players – Martina Dairo and Mary Wallace due to a death in the family and Brenda Doody due to injury.

All in all it was a great effort by this group and long may it continue. Niamh Kindlon of Ladies Football fame was on hand to give these super stars medals after the event.

Here’s to many more great days with this great group of ladies.
