Juvenile Academy

Thanks to all club coaches who have made a terrific start to 2017 for our club.  Our young stars are having great fun in these skilled based sessions.

U6: Well done to Thomas Higgins, Róisín Moran, Matthew Murphy and Oscar Curran who put in a great training session last Sunday morning but a huge well done to Grace Costello who received our player of the week trophy by showing great skill and determination. Keep up the good work.

U8: Another great turnout for the Under 8’s at last Sunday’s Academy session in Presentation Gym. The enthusiasm of everyone is what makes these sessions so enjoyable. It’s great to see the U8’s from last year like Keelin Sinnott, Sam Jones and Nathan Murphy leading by example through their committed effort in all of the drills.
It is important to try and practice some of the ball handling skills between the Sunday sessions so we would encourage all the under 8’s to practice on two days during the week for 15 minutes each day.

Congratulations to Sean Berry on winning the Player of the Week trophy last Sunday, he put in a great effort during the session… so well done to Sean.

U10: The St.Pats under 10’s Boys & Girls were in academy action last Sunday. We had a good turnout at training in the Pres Hall. Everyone put in a great effort practicing their skills at training with Grainne Breen, Darragh Murphy, Michael Enright and Kayla O’Connor giving it their all during the session. Congratulations to Garry Scollard for winning the player of the week award. It is important that ye all keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. We hope to see ye all at training Sunday at 11am in the Pres Hall, Moyderwell Tralee.

U12: Our boys and girls will be back training for the new season this Sunday, the 5th of February at 11.30am in our astro field. Welcome back to all the older players from last year as well as the u10 players moving up the ranks. Players are asked to bring along with them their gum-shields, which is a necessity. New members are also encouraged to come and give it a try.

Seniors

Our seniors have been training for the 2017 season for a number of weeks every Tuesday and Friday night at 7.30pm. This year, the team is under the watchful eye of manager, Tim Moynihan. He will ably be assisted by selectors Joe Costello, Jimmy Mulligan & Dave Curtin who is also the physical trainer. We wish them the best of luck for the year ahead.

The senior’s first game is scheduled for Sunday, the 12th of February at home to Ballymac at 2pm in the St Brendan’s League. Also, the Round 1 draw for the 2017 Castleisland Mart Club Championships takes place on Tuesday, the 31st of January. We will be competing in the Junior Premier Championship, which consists of 16 teams with the first round a straight knockout. We will have more details in next week’s notes.
