Registration 2017

We are having our registration night in the Community Rooms this Friday 10th February at 7.30 to 8.30pm. Personalised registration forms have already been distributed at the Academy and the various coaches will hand them to members of their respective panels. We will appreciate it if the completed forms are brought in on the night to ease the registration process.

Juvenile Academy

U6: Well done to Jake Kelly, Jayden Sinnott, Rylan and Jace Flynn (we wish them a happy birthday) who put in a great training session last Sunday morning but a huge well done to Matthew Murphy who received our player of the week trophy by showing great skill and determination. Keep up the good work.

U8: While the temperature on the way into Presentation Gym was a little frosty last Sunday it didn’t take long for it to rise to a hotter level as the under 8’s tackled their warm up exercises at the academy session. The attendance is very consistent and the signs of improvement in fitness and ball skills is becoming evident so it’s important to try to come regularly to the Sunday morning sessions.  Some of our young footballers must be putting in some practice at home as we advise with Jake Kelly showing some great kicking and Gearóid Hingston very good catching skills. Sean Berry, Chloe Passway and Rían Flynn showed some good style in the running drills and well done to everybody for attending.  One of our most consistent players is Keelin Sinnott and at the session her attention and participation meant that she was awarded the Player of the Week trophy so well done and belated birthday wishes.

U10: St Pats under 10’s Academy were training again last Sunday in the Pres hall. There was a great turnout of players all eager to learn the skills. It was great to see all the players putting in a great effort especially Daniel Sheehy, Caolinn Culloo, Mark O’Brien and Luke Passway who was making a welcome return from his recent injury and he certainly showed no ill effects from it. Well done to player of the week Jack Costello keep up the good work. It’s important everyone keeps practicing their skills at home during the week. We are back training again Sunday morning same time 11am and same location for more fun and games see you there.

U12: Our boys and girls had a great training session on their first day back on our Astro pitch despite the cold conditions. They were soon warmed up after the first drill and it was great to see such enthusiasm within the players. We will be back training every Sundays at 11.30am on our Astro pitch and will continue to do so until we revert back to our normal Friday evenings slot. New members are also encouraged to come and give it a try.

Seniors

Training continues for our senior team every Tuesday and Friday night at 7.30pm under the watchful eye of manager, Tim Moynihan and his selectors Joe Costello, Jimmy Mulligan & Dave Curtin. The senior’s first competitive game of the year is scheduled for this Sunday, the 12th of February at home to Ballymac at 2pm in the St Brendan’s League.

Also, the Round 1 draw for the 2017 Castleisland Mart Club Championships took place last Tuesday, the 31st of January. We have been drawn against Skellig Rangers away in the Junior Premier Club Championship and the match has been fixed for the weekend of the 16th of April.

Dingle Way Challenge 2017

Plans for the biggest and best DWC are well underway.  The date is set for June 4th (keep that date free and marked in your diaries and calendars). The route is still being fine-tuned but a feeler from the able committee led by Derek O’Sullivan has it that the route might include the scenic Glenteenasig.

There are a lot of rumours about covert training for the Dingle Way Challenge as reported last week and we have it on good authority that Seamus, our coaching officer, was not walking in the Bluestack Mountains in Co. Donegal last weekend.

He took the scenic route via Glenties to Letterkenny although why he was wearing a woolly cap, hiking boots and carrying a rucksack remains to be clarified!
