Registration

There was a good response to the 2017 membership registration night last Friday night held in our community rooms. Thanks to everyone who has registered so far. We will however be having a second night next week at 7.30 to 8.30pm, same venue. Blank forms will also be available on the night to those who by some chance haven’t received any forms. Members who have paid fully will be entitled to represent the club in games and cultural activities, apply for Munster and All-Ireland tickets, attend the club AGM among other benefits. Registration for members and families of the u6’s, u8’s and u10’s can still be completed at the Academy session in the Presentation school PE hall on Sunday morning at the usual times.

Juvenile Academy

U6: Well done to Bruce McMillan, Thomas Higgins, Roisin Moran and Noah Flynn who put in a great training session last Sunday morning but a huge well done to Oscar Curran who received our player of the week trophy by showing great skill and determination despite it being his first training session. Keep up the good work.

U8: Great effort was put in by all of the under 8’s who attended last Sundays Academy session in the Presentation Gym and especially Chloe Passway who was the Player of the Week…so very well done Chloe. Jake Kelly, Sam Jones, Rodhan Culloo and Keelin Sinnott showed some great hand passing skills. It’s important that you try to get in some practice with a ball during the week so do try to get 10 minutes playing with a ball for at least 10 minutes on 2 days during the week.

U10:The  St. Pats under 10’s  Boys & Girls were in academy action last Sunday. We had a good turnout at training in the Pres Hall. Everyone put in a great effort practicing their skills at training with Killian O’Mahony, Jack Costello, Gary Scollard and Rory Daly giving it their all during the session. Congratulations to Darragh Murphy for winning the player of the week award. It is important that ye all keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. We hope to see ye all at training Sunday at 11am in the Pres Hall.

U12: Our boys and girls had a great training session last Sunday in Presentation Hall. Training continues on our astro pitch on Sunday at 11.30am. Please don’t forget your gum shields.

U14: Training continues on our astro pitch on Thursday at 6.30pm

Seniors

Our St Brendan’s league match against Ballymac scheduled to be played last Sunday in Blennerville was cancelled and another date will be rearranged at a later date. Our next match is this Sunday, the 17th of February in the same competition and we will be at home to Churchill. Throw-in time is at 2pm. Best of luck lads!

Dingle Way Challenge 2017

The Dingle Way Challenge (DWC) is being held on Sunday June 4th and reportedly the route this year will take walkers along some of the most scenic areas in West Kerry. It seems that our note of training for the DWC taking place in the hills of Donegal has caused the individual to take his training underground.

Sightings were reported from Ennis last weekend of the same individual asking for directions to the famous Aillwee Caves in the Burren, this takes the notion of covert training to a whole lower level.

Your correspondent sought confirmation of these reports from the individual at the Academy on Sunday however all that Seamus confirmed was that the woolly cap was as useful in the lower altitude of the caves as it was in the hills of Donegal!

Blennerville/Ballyard Community Games

Almost four hours of top class entertainment in U12 & U16 solo & group competitions in Keel started a very fruitful weekend of medals for Blennerville/Ballyard.

Congratulations to Orlaith Murphy who came 4th in solo music U12. Silver medal went to our U12 music group of Emma Healy, Siobhan and Caoimhe O Sullivan, Thomas Sheehy and Orlaith Murphy. Thanks to mentor James Allman for giving his time with these wonderful young musicians.

Miltown Sunday U15 Futsal

Congratulations to our U15 Futsal team of Darragh Caplis, Gavin Doody, Colin Doody, Danny Greaney, Darragh Moriarty, Tomas O’Sullivan, Marc and Conor Brick who came 4th in Kerry last Sunday in Milltown. They put in a fantastic display and did themselves and our area proud. Thanks to team manager, Pat Doody for guiding these young men.

What a great day was had in Abbeydorney also on Sunday. First up was Siobhan O’Sullivan  in solo U12, singing “The Clown” and took second place, our group singers U12  Diarmuid Waugh, Daniel sheehy, Orlaith Murphy, Emma Healy, Siobhan and Caoimhe O’Sullivan sang “Colours of the wind” and “The Climb”, also taking second place .

Tension was building with the crowd waiting for Danny Greaney and Tomas O Sullivan to come straight from U15 Futsal.  Some speed limits might have been broken, but Danny took to the stage unphased and sang “Hallelujah”, placing 4th. Lastly, our U16 group singers: Caoimhe Dairo, Keelin Enright, Tomas O Sullivan, Judith Waugh, Ciara and Sean Fitzgibbon sang “Chasing Cars” and “Thinking out loud” placing second for more silverware to our haul today.

A special thanks to mentor Mary O Sullivan or her time with these kids and also to all parents involved in making these events happen.

Blennerville/Balllyard U16 Group singers, who won silver in their category yesterday in Abbeydorney yesterday.

This weekend sees the girls U13 and U15 Futsal competition on Sat 18th February, wishing everyone the best of luck competing.
