U-10’s:

We played the 3rd round of our go games blitz in Ardfert last Sunday and all the players gave a great account of themselves. It was great to see the confidence growing through this exciting bunch of players who gave a heroic performance in all the games they played in.

Mention must be made of the sterling performances of Seanie Murphy, James Dowling, Caoimhe Dairo, Orlaith Murphy and Siobhan O’Sullivan. We’d also like to give a special mention to Josh Quilter who played a match through illness and we wish him a speedy recovery.

U-12’s:

Well done to our u12’s who won their last two games in the county league last week. On Friday evening we played tarbert at home winning on a score line of 4-11 to 2-6. Every player from number 1 to 18 gave it 100%.

Our opening score came from Danny Greaney with a great ball from Tomas O’ Sullivan. Tarbert replied with a point and Danny responded with 2 consecutive points with great fielding from David Fiaro.

Tarbert then scored a goal but Oisin Tobin who was only seconds on the field planted the ball in the back of the net. Nathan Moriarty kept us in the game making some outstanding saves throughout the game.

Tomas scored 3 points with great team effort from Sean Crowley, Jade Harkin and Aaron Murphy and David scored 1 point before half time. A special mention has to go to  Daniel Moriarty who was fantastic in defense clearing every ball that came in his direction. Half time score st. Pats 1-7 Tarbert 1-3

In the second half Adam Mulvihille was unlucky not to score a goal when the ball hit the post. Mikee Healy made a huge contribution to the game when he scored a goal with a well won ball from Tomas.

Seconds later mikee rattled the back of the net with another goal. Danny then won the kick out with a great catch and gave a quick ball to David who added another goal to our scoresheet. Mikee was unlucky not to get his hatrick when the goalie tipped the ball over the bar.

Daniel Moriarty once again made a great block down and worked the ball well between Matthew quilter, Michael doody and Liam O’Sullivan. Our subs Corey O’Shea, Diarmuid Griffin, Grace O’ Brien  and Shane Howarth made a huge impact on the game.

We  saw another point from Tomas and we finished with a point from Danny with the full time score st. Pats 4-11 Tarbert 2- 6. Man of the match for this game was a tough decision as every player gave a spectacular performance but Nathan Moriarty in goals and Daniel Moriarty in defence deserve to get a special mention.

On Sunday our boys then travelled to Ballylongford to play their last game against Asdee/Ballylongford and gave another fantastic performance. David Fiaro opened the score line with a great point followed by a point from Danny.

Danny was then awarded 2 frees and Tomas another and they each popped the ball over the bar.

We scored 2 consecutive goals when Colin Doody showed great skill by punching the ball into the net and David blasted the ball past the goalie. Once again Nathan Moriarty made some great saves and gave great kick outs finding his red and white team mates every time.

We saw further points from Danny and Tomas and a great point from Aaron Murphy. Diarmuid griffin made himself noticed on the field with a great catch and pass to grace O’Brien who gave a quick pass to David and scored another point. Matthew quilter in defence read the ball to perfection getting in front of his man, clearing the ball and setting up another score. In the second half asdee came into the game and put our backs Michael Doody, Liam O’ Sullivan, Daniel Moriarty Matthew quilter and Sammy under pressure but they remained calm and cleared the ball on several occasions.

We saw a goal from David, a point from Danny from a 45 and another lovely point from Tomas. Corey O’Shea was fouled and awarded a free and with a lovely stylish kick he popped the ball over the bar.

Shane Howarth was unlucky not to score when the ball hit the post. Welcome back to Samuel Abubaker who was out injured for a number of weeks but made a great comeback.

Final score asdee/Ballylongford 3-9 St. pats 3-18. A big thank you to all our supporters  who travel to support this up and coming team and especially to the coaches Dan O’Sullivan, Raphael Crowley and Mike Lynch.

U-14’s:

Our U14’s continued their preparation for Féile with very worthwhile challenges against Ardfert & Listowel.

We would like to thank both teams for the games. The team are set and ready for Wexford and Wicklow next weekend.

The squad will depart Blennerville just after 9am on Friday and head to Craanford in Wexford. We will play Newry Shamrocks and Craanford on Friday at 5pm and 6pm respectively and then travel up the M11 to Newtownmountkennedy in Wicklow to our host club.

We will then play Newtown on Saturday at 11:15am and will then be in a quarter final of the cup or shield depending on our success in the previous games. We would like to wish the team and management the very best of luck this weekend and safe trip to all the families and supporters travelling to the sunny south east this weekend. Naomi Pádraig Abú!

Juniors:

Our Juniors defeated Kerins O Rahillys on a score line of 3-11 to 2-12. They now meet either Churchill or Castlegregory who play in the second semifinal.

Seniors:

Skellig Rangers V St. Pat’s

Skellig Rangers lost out to St. Pat’s Blennerville last Saturday evening on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-20.

The home side got off to a brilliant start when wing forward Brian O’ Sullivan goaled early and Alan Devane pointed. However, it didn’t take St.Pat’s long to respond and in form forward Kieran Hurley had his team in the lead with some great score-taking despite Skellig’s best efforts to thwart him.

The Tralee side won breaks easily around the middle third and this allowed them their huge 9 point lead at half time after Skellig Rangers failed to add to their great start.

The game was definitely over as a contest midway through the second half when David O’ Callaghan scored a number of points along with Liam Poff. Skellig responded with frees from Daragh Sullivan but ultimately were chasing a lost cause and St. Pat’s ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-20 to 1-10.

The result means that Skellig Rangers are bottom of the table with Beale away in 2 weeks time.

Congratulations: to Fr. Padraig Walsh of Our Lady and St. Brendan’s Parish who celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood recently.

Sympathy:

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the family and friends of William Flanagan Clahane, Ballyard. May he rest in peace
