Juvenile Academy

Our Juvenile academy restarted on Sunday last after Summer recess. The U6’s travelled to Na Gaeil to play Ballymac & the home team. U-8’s vs Ballymac & Na Gaeil

Last Sunday, St Pats U-8’s took part in a blitz which was very well held by our neighbours Na Gaeil. We played a number of games against Ballymac and Na Gaeil. All the St Pats players played the full matches and they all tried their best including young Jack Costello, Michael Enright and Darragh Murphy.

With Zack Howarth and especially Thomas Sheehy working hard around the middle they were supplying plenty of ball into a very determined forward line of Fionn, Daniel and Killian. Our defence performed brilliantly in their St. Pats jersey’s. Orlaith and Keelin’s hard tackling and close contact kept our opponents forwards at bay.

The management team were delighted to see the players use some good blocking down, kick passing and handling skills during the games. So now its important that all players continue to attend every training session and practise their skills at home.

U-10’s vs Ballymac:

On Sunday morning in a wind swept Blennerville, we faced a strong Ballymac team and we performed heroically .Liam Sullivan, Sean Crowley, Adam & Caoimhe fought gallantly for every ball; Paddy Moran, Gearoid O’Shea & James Dowling tackled as if their lives depended on it & Seanie Murphy, Shane Howarth & Josh Quilter won every ball that came their way. Also thanks again to Mike Doody and Danny Greaney who helped us out.

Under 11’s:

Our U11’s played away to Ballymac on Tuesday evening and they came home with a well deserved win. In defence Michael Doody, David Faido, Matthew Quilter and Danny Greaney were well on top their game.

County League Semi Final

St Pats 4-6 Asdee/Ballylongford 4-9.

Our U16’s played the County League semi final on Tuesday evening against Asdee/Ballylongford but unfortunately it wasn’t our day.

We started off very well with a point from Gearoid Dillane and Eoin Greaney but Asdee responded very quickly with a goal. Cian Ronan kicked a great ball into Danny Cournane who made it look so easy by planting the ball into the back of the net and seconds later he stole another goal.

However, the game turned quickly when Asdee/Ballylongford were awarded a penalty which was taken very well.

They followed with a point to make the score St Pats 2-2 Asdee/Ballylongford 2-3. Just before half time they scored another goal leaving the half time score St Pats 2-2 Asdee/Ballylongford 3-3. Darragh Sheehan got the opening score in the second half and once again Asdee/Ballylongford responded with a goal.

We were trailing throughout the second half and we saw 1 point from Joshua Laucher, 2 points from Eoin Greaney, 1 goal from Brian Murphy and Danny Cournane got his hat-trick with yet another lovely goal. Once again Sean Hogan played a great game in goals and In defence Joe O’Connor, Brian Murphy, Mikee Cahill, Shane O’Donoghue and Eoin Murphy had a very busy game and did well in clearing numerous ball.

With 9 minutes left we were trailing by 3 points St Pats 4-6 Asdee/Ballylongford 4-9. Asdee/Bally scored 2 consecutive points and then the game changed when Joshua received a great ball from Joe Quilter and scored a lovely goal. With 1 minute to go Shane Jordan rattled the net which left us 1 point up.

However luck wasn’t on our side when Asdee/Ballylongford scored an injury time goal and followed with a point which finished up with us loosing by 3 points.

Juniors

Barrett Cup Round 1:

St Pats 0-16 Kerins O’Rahilly’s 2-7

The Junior team had a good win over Kerins O`Rahilly’s in the Barrett Cup, played in Blennerville last Friday. We started well and in the first 10 minutes, we were up by 3points playing against a strong wind.

As the first half went on, Kerins O`Rahilly’s began to dominate the game as they took control of the match with 2 goals inside a minute as they punished our mistakes. We were underperforming and The Charlie Kerins went on to score 4 points in the first half as we only added another point.

Half Time Score St Pats 0-04 Kerins O’Rahillys 2-04. In the second half, we began to play much better with the backs well on top and a good supply of ball to the forwards and midfield taking control of the game. We were beginning to score some great points from all over the field as we cut the lead and with 5 minutes to go we took the lead.

We finished strongly as we put the first half display behind us. This was a good win over a good Kerins O`Rahilly’s team who never gave up and pushed our team all the way to the end.

We were relieved at the final whistle to get the win that puts us into the Semi Final.
