THE Dingle Way Challenge, an annual fundraiser by St Pat’s GAA Club, is set to be bigger and better this year and the club is looking for participants.

The date has been set for Sunday, June 3 and Chairman of St Pats, Jimmy Mulligan, is promising a fantastic day out.

“It’s going to be another big event this year and we are hoping to have around 300 people taking part on the day. Hopefully they’ll end up in Quane’s for the barbecue afterwards.”

“We have a family event too this year while the Ultra is for more seasoned walkers. It’s a healthy and active event, but a social one too as people can get to know each other while taking part,” said Jimmy who thanked the sponsors for the their support.

“Without the support of Poff Motors and Top Part we would not be able to hold the event so we thank them,” said Jimmy.

There will be two challenges. First there is the standard DWC.

This is a 46km walk with the route going from from Brandon Point – Halla Le Cheile (there will be breakfast provided here) – Fermoyle Beach – Stradbally (Light lunch at the Castlegregory Golf Club) – Castlegregory – Lower Camp (Water/Toilet/Bus in Fitzgeralds) – Blennerville ( There will be BBQ in Quanes). Buses will leave from Blennerville at 7am sharp for this option.

And then the ultra route (about 58km) where the trek will begin in Feothanach at 6am and through to Halla Le Cheile and to Brandon via Sauce Creek.

Again, buses will leave Blennerville at 5am sharp and as usual, there will be buses going back to Blennerville after the walk.

Registration will be €45 on the day and online (stpatsgaaclub.com or myclubfinances.com/memberships) after April 15th. Early Bird Registration online will be €40 before April 15th. Check out the club’s website for more
