ST Vincent De Paul and Garvey’s Super Valu have joined forces to help put food on the table for families less fortunate this Christmas.

“Garvey’s came to us this year, so we’re delighted they thought of us as a charity,” said St Vincent De Paul’s, Junior Locke.

The ‘Good Food Karma’ food appeal will be operating in every Garvey’s in Kerry. Trolleys will be left in the store for people to donate food, the trolleys will then  be collected from Garvey’s on a weekly basis and go to families as hampers for Christmas.

“It’s a great initiative, it helps local people have a far better Christmas than they would have,” said Garvey’s Tralee’s Tim Moynihan.

“While customers are going around doing their Christmas shopping at any of our stores around the county, there’s a chance to help people less well off in the community. We hope that people would be willing to help this great charity and the work it does,” he said.

Christmas can be such a difficult time for so many families who may be struggling, so this is a vital appeal to give St Vincent De Paul a chance to help people.
