Status Yellow Ice And Low Temperature Warnings For Ireland

TWO Status Yellow warnings will come into effect on Thursday affecting the entire country.

A Status Yellow Ice warning has been issued by Met Éireann coming into effect from midnight tonight.

Hazardous conditions are possible with a band of wintry precipitation sinking southwards with the potential for black ice/freezing rain on surfaces. That warning is valid until 12 noon on Thursday.

Later tomorrow night, a Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning comes into effect from 10pm. Again, Met Éireann says there will be hazardous conditions.

A sharp to severe frost with icy surfaces, as temperatures widely fall to -4 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country. The warning is valid until 10am on Friday.

Looking locally, today will be bitterly cold in the Tralee area with temperatures unlikely to exceed 5 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures will fall to about 0 degrees tonight with similar temperatures on Thursday to today’s. It will get even colder tomorrow night with temperatures as low as -2 degrees in the early hours of Friday and another cold day in prospect.
