A STATUS Yellow Ice warning has been issued for Ireland by Met Éireann to come into effect from Sunday evening, although it is unlikely the Tralee area will see freezing temperatures tonight.

Met Éireann says icy stretches are likely on Sunday night and Monday morning with hazardous travelling conditions also expected, especially on untreated roads and footpaths. Some patches of freezing fog are also possible.

The warning is valid from Sunday 6pm to 12 noon on Monday. A Weather Advisory for Ireland was issued Friday for Ireland lasting until Thursday, so more weather warning are likely in the coming days.

Looking locally, the Tralee area is unlikely to see freezing conditions tonight but Monday night and Tuesday morning will be cold with sleet and snow possible. Daytime temperatures will stay under 5 degrees for most of the week.
