ACCORDING to Met Éireann, Thursday will be a very wet and windy day in Kerry.

They have just issued Status Yellow Wind And Rain warnings for the county and both come into effect from midnight tonight.

Southerly winds, later veering westerly, will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with gusts of 80 to 110 km/h. Higher gusts possible in coastal areas.

Meanwhile, there will be rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm with some localized flooding. Highest totals in mountainous areas. Both warnings are in effect for 24 hours.

Looking at the Rainfall Radar on the Met.ie website, it looks like there will be little respite from the rain in the Tralee area all day. The bad news is that Friday looks like it also be a wet one. There will be spells of dry weather on Saturday, but Sunday will see a return of heavy showers.
