THERE’S good news as Kerry is no longer in the ‘Red’ weather warning status.

It is now downgraded by Met Eireann to the ‘Orange’ status category along with Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Clare, Cork, Limerick and Waterford.

This category of Orange level weather warnings is for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas.

The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.

Met Eireann says Southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with gusts of 110 to 120 km/h at times, highest in exposed areas. Winds will veer westerly later.

So while we’re out of the real danger category, it’s still best to take care out there.
