SO how was it for you? Hopefully the earth didn’t move.

It appears Tralee escaped the worst of Storm Rachel over the night as winds weren’t as bad as feared although there was some heavy showers and thunder and lightning.

However, Kerry County Council say we’re not out of the woods yet and weather conditions will deteriorate between 10am and 1pm.

Kerry County Council have reported no significant damage resulting from last night’s storm.

However, the Council is warning that there will be a significant amount of branches, bushes and debris on Kerry roads, so road users are asked to exercise care when driving.

Road temperatures have fallen, and there may be icy patches on some roads, especially those in higher areas and local roads.

Some priority routes may not have been treated due to the high winds last night, so motorists are advised to drive with extreme care.

There are a number of homes in the south Kerry area withoutbn power this morning  and the ESB are working to restore electricity there.

Weather reports from Met Eireann forecast that conditions will deteriorate once more around 10am-1pm, so the public are advised to remain vigilant and to continue to exercise prudence in relation to going outdoors and travelling.

The county’s inter-agency team, consisting of representatives from the HSE, Garda Siochana and Kerry County Council will be meeting this morning and further information will be issued at 10am.

Met Eireann’s forecast for Munster today is that it will “still be extremely windy and stormy today and feeling cold. Scattered heavy, thundery showers, some will be wintry on higher ground. Strong to gale force southwest to west winds with some severe gusts during the morning and afternoon in exposed areas. Highs of 4 to 7 degrees.”
