MEMBERS of Castlegregory Golf Club handed over a cheque to volunteers at Recovery Haven after a hugely successful fundraiser recently.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Friday, January 22 for the Strictly Come Dancing event and people gave generously to both the club and Recovery Haven.

On Saturday morning the Recovery Haven welcomed the members who gave them a cheque for €500.

“It’s fantastic to give the money to such a worthy cause,” said Castlegregory Golf Club member, Geraldine Flynn, who was joint MC and helped organise the night.

“There isn’t a family that hasn’t been affected by cancer and it’s a fantastic support service here,” she said.

Eileen Comerford, a volunteer at Recovery Haven, was delighted with the contribution.

“We’re thrilled to have the proceeds from the competition. It’s a great benefit for us to have an outside community donate to us here and as we get no Government funding, we’re totally dependent of wonderful people like those at Castlegregory Golf Club,” said Eileen.
