A SURVEY by travel website Trivago reports that Tralee and Athlone are the only towns in Ireland who recorded an annual fall in hotel prices in 2015.

In Tralee prices fell by 2%, making the average price of a room in town €91.

In contrast Dingle saw their hotel price rise by 38% to €114.

Killarney also saw a rise of 8%, a bed costing on average €104 per night for this month.

City destinations recorded a rise as well, with a bed in Dublin now €145 on average, going up 29%.

In Cork it’s a similar story, the rebel city posting an 14% rise, making a bed €106 a night.

The survey has come in for criticism from the Irish Hotel Federation, who say the data is based solely on the prices for rooms found on Trivago and does not reflect the whole market.
