REPRESENTATIVES from St Vincent de Paul were on hand to accept a cheque for €350 at O’Shea’s Gala in Blennerville on Thursday night.

The money was raised when the Curraheen Community Choir set sang carols for just one hour on an evening before Christmas, just outside the entrance to the shop and customers gave generously to the great cause.

Mary O’Shea of O’Shea’s Gala and Jack Lacey instigated the event a few years ago and many hundreds of euro have been raised for SVP since then.

“It’s a lovely surprise to get this donation of €350 which we really appreciate,” said SVP volunteer Treasa Walsh.

“We always need donations this time of the year as we there are people that need help with fuel bills and other bills coming in January. We thank everyone who played their part in the fundraiser — the choir, O’Shea’s and those who donated,” said Treasa.
