Doireann Wins Community Achievement Category At Irish Women’s Awards Event

A TRALEE woman was a winner last weekend at the third Irish Women’s Awards 2023.

Doireann Barrett of The Gluten Free Kitchen Company, Tralee, won the Community Achievement category at the event dedicated to celebrating the extraordinary accomplishments of women in Ireland.

The gala ceremony, held on Friday, June 2 at Crowne Plaza Dublin Blanchardstown, brought together women from various fields, highlighting their exceptional contributions and inspiring stories of success.

“I am honoured and in shock to have won the overall category win,” said Doireann. “I was a finalist against such amazing nominations and I am thrilled to win an award for my work in the Endometriosis, Coeliac & Gluten Free Community.”

The Irish Women’s Awards serves as a platform to recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of women who have made a significant impact in their respective industries.

Doireann’s Off To Speak At German Conference

TRALEE  businesswomen, Doireann Barrett, owner of the  ‘Gluten Free Kitchen’ has been invited by the EU Commission to be a guest speaker at  a conference in Potsdam, Germany this week.

She will be one of the  guest speakers at the Tradeit Bakery and Brokerage Convention in Potsdam, Berlin, to discuss their business and the rise in Coeliac Disease and Gluten Free Awareness.

The convention takes place this Thursday and Friday. Doireann will speak in front of delegates from 15 European Countries. This represents a a huge achievement for the local business which is Ireland’s only dedicated gluten and wheat-free restaurant with in-house bakery.

After years of researching her symptoms with no success, Doireann, was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2004. Once diagnosed, she saw a gap in the market and developed a niche business concept.

In 2011 The Gluten Free Kitchen Company Bakery was established and has already won awards and accreditation for the café and bakery .
