The John Mitchels club has run a fantastic ‘Strictly’ fundraiser for the past couple of years, but this time they’ve turned their attention to a Lip Sync event to be held in Ballygarry House Hotel on the October Bank Holiday weekend.
The acts are currently in training for the event, which takes place on Sunday, October 28 at 8pm (doors open 6pm) and under the experienced eye of Ms. Jackie O’Mahony, choreographer. The winning act will be donating their prize money to a charity of their choice.

When it comes to judges, the John Mitchels club have secured the expertise of well know PR guru and broadcaster John Drummey; Cllr Terry O’Brien; beauty blogger Mary O’Donnell and Anne O’Donnell of Siamsa fame who knows a thing or two about dancing.
Again, Brian Hurley will be the accomplished MC on the night. The money raised from the Lip Syng will be used for the development of the Club both at Juvenile and Senior level and also prize-money will be donated to a charity chosen by the winning act. THERE was a fantastic night of entertainment in Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Sunday night.
The occasion was the Churchill GAA ‘Lip Sing Battle’ and it was an amazing success with over 500 people attending.
As we told you yesterday (click here for previous story), John Murray got the nod from the judges, while ‘The Spice Boys’ were the most popular in the public vote.

THERE was great fun last night as Churchill GAA staged its first ‘Lip Sing Battle’ at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
A crowd of around 500 people watched on as the contestants took on a number of different guises under the expert tutelage of Jackie O’Mahoney with Sinead Cotter as MC for the occasion.
The four judges — Fr Eamon Mulvihill, Michael Healy Rae, Declan Parker and Catriona O’Sullivan — had a tough task in deciding the winner but in the end they went for John Murray.
The public had a different take and the Spice Boys — Padraig Ryan, Cillian O’Shea, Barry Carmody and Stephen Bulman — won the popular vote. Scroll down for photos (we’ll have more tomorrow)…

WE can expect some amazing performances, slick moves, colourful costumes and lots of laughter next month when 11 acts take to the stage for Churchill GAA’s ‘Lip Sing Battle’.
Following on from their hugely successful ‘Strictly’ event in 2017, the club has gone for a different type of show and the contestants were raring to go when we met them on Friday night at The Oyster Tavern for the launch.
Jackie O’Mahoney has been working with the lads and lassies for the past month and said things are coming on nicely for the event which takes place on Sunday, May 6 at 8pm in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.

Two of the four judges have been confirmed for the night and they are Michael Healy Rae and Catriona O’Sullivan, while the MC for the evening will be Sinead Cotter.
The contestants have all nominated a charity to which they will donate their winnings. Tickets are €20 for the strictly over 18s event and can be bought from committee members and by contacting the Churchill GAA Lip Sing Battle Facebook page here.

The 10 acts were amazing and entertained the hundreds present at Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday night with Destiny Spice impressing the judges, while Sister Act won the public vote.

THE hundreds who attended Ardfert National School ‘Lip Sing Battle’ sure got value for money last night as the acts put on an energetic show which had the audience cheering, laughing and singing along.
After two sell-out Strictly Come Dancing events over the past couple of years, the organisers decided on something different this year and it was a wonderful night of entertainment.
Creative Director Joe Burkett outdid himself steering his charges to amazing performances of some iconic artists’ hits from legends like Whitney Houston, Spice Girls, Dusty Springfield, Destiny’s Child, ABBA and more.
The judges on the night were vocal coach Claire Adams, beauty expert Mary O’Donnell and stylist Danny Leane and while they had a tough job deciding the winners, but they eventually decided on Destiny Spice.
The public though had a different take and selected Sister Act.

THE final countdown is on for Saturday’s Ardfert National School ‘Lip Sing’ event and the organisers have made extra tickets available on the night.

ELVIS, Beyonce, Rihanna and Cyndi Lauper all on the one stage?
Yes, it was certainly a night of stars at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday as the Enable Ireland Kerry ‘Lip Sing’ event took place in front of a great crowd of family and friends of the contestants.
The 12 participants served up some wonderfully entertaining performances introduced by MC Alan Teahan and the crowd really enjoyed themselves.
The Judges — Grace O’Donnell, Carol Bermingham and last year’s winner Fr Padraig Walsh — were also thrilled with the efforts of the contestants and in the end they chose Jacinta Hobbert’s Rihanna performance to be the best.

The public differed however and it was Bridie Courtney’s performance as Amy Winehouse which captured their votes.
The other contestants taking part were Amy Crean, Miriam Owens, Sean Dukes, Gerard O’Reilly, Patrick Fitzgibbon, Jimmy Adams, Pat Reidy, Eddie Flynn, Breeda Hurley, Emelia Lowe, Mary Gardiner, Michael Hurley, Tara Dore and Elaine Van Keulen.

SATURDAY night sees the Enable Ireland Kerry ‘Lip Sing’ return this year after a great success in 2016.
They will be holding the event at Ballyroe Heights Hotel and 12 acts will battle it out to become this year’s Lip Sing Champion.
Choreographer Jackie O’Mahony has been putting each participant through their paces in advance of the big night and they’re all ready for action at this stage.

Sean Scally from Enable Ireland said; “We hope people will come along, enjoy the event and support us on the day. We have had great support from many of the businesses in Tralee who have taken out adverts in the event programme or donated some great prizes to our raffle.”
