Ted Moynihan.

A WELL-DESERVED civic reception will be held on Monday for a man who has done enormous work for charity and cancer support in Kerry.

Ted Moynihan of Kerry Hospice Foundation will receive the honour from the Tralee Municipal District at 1pm at Kerry County Council buildings at Rathass.

The Tralee man has worked tirelessly over the years for the development of palliative care services in Kerry and he will see the fruits of his (and others) labour realised with the construction of the new 15 bed palliative care unit at University Hospital Kerry which it is hoped will be open by the end of the year.

Ted has been the driving force behind numerous fundraising drives over the years and inspired others to organise their own events for the cause. Of course the fundraising activities are still ongoing as The Kerry Hospice Foundation has committed to raising €400,000 per year towards staffing costs at the unit for the first five years of its existence.

The Council honour is no more than he deserves and we wish him well.
