THE teenager who was waiting for a bed to become available in Cork University Hospital for a vital operation, left University Hospital Kerry this evening for Cork.

Paddy Kevane, sister of Breda who needs an operation to clear her airways, tweeted the good news at 5.25pm this evening. In the tweet he said: “Breda is on her way to Cork no. Thanks to everyone for the support.  This battle is hopefully over. Please continue praying for her.”

Yesterday, Paddy went public with Breda’s plight on national radio. Breda has been in an induced coma in intensive care in Tralee for the past 11 days, but needs to be transferred to Cork or Limerick to have a special operation to clear her airways. However the HSE said there was no bed available at the moment and Paddy said that she could die in a matter of days if she wasn’t transferred.

Earlier today Paddy was told by a member of government that a bed would be available in Cork later today. Then this evening Paddy tweeted the good news.
