THE team behind the traditional Féile na mBláth Park Festival, which is held annually in June in Tralee, have announced plans for a series of family-friendly and COVID-compliant events over the course of ten days later this month.

Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council and Tralee Chamber Alliance will be running the 2021 Park Festival at Pearse Park in the town between 19th and 29th August, details of which are now available on www.festivaltralee.com

All aspects of the family-oriented occasion will be held in full compliance with public health guidelines and will ensure that the prevailing advice in that regard is applied.

Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Johnnie Wall said: “As a Municipal District in Tralee, we spoke earlier this year about our ambition to hold a few events in the town towards the end of the summer of restrictions allowed. The Park Festival has all the ingredients to celebrate the return of live music, food, and arts to Tralee, in a safe way. The ten-day festival, with the support of Tralee Chamber Alliance, will see three separate events take place all under the one Marquee in Pearse Park.”

The festival will commence with an Irish Dancing ‘Féis’ with 500 dancers descending on the town.

This will be followed by the traditional ‘Féile’ with Street Theatre Shows featuring Tralee’s own Fanzini Brothers, flower displays, puppet shows, circus workshops, family gardening, drum pods, dog shows and more.

The final event, ‘Tralee Music Revival’ is presented exclusively by Tralee Chamber Alliance and will showcase live music from Tralee Bands such as ‘AfterShock’, ‘Sweet FA’, ‘Renovator’, ‘Comic Book Heroes’, ‘Queenless Kings’ and wrapping up the Festival with ‘Oracle’ on the Saturday night, all taking place under a specially designed open-sided Festival Marquee with Cabaret Style seating.

Ticket prices average from €2.50 for the ‘Féis’ & ‘Féile’ which is a subsidised price under the 2021 Kerry County Council Community Support Fund and €5 per person for the ‘Revival’ aspect which is supported by the Live Music Support Scheme.

Tickets for the ‘Féile’ aspect of the event are fully redeemable from the on-site Food Court.

Audiences will be asked to comply with all current safety guidelines by booking tickets, completing a Covid-eForm 24 hrs before arrival, temperature checks, sight of Covid App and adherence to social distancing, and mask wearing while moving around.

Unlike the traditional June Festival this is a controlled event with a maximum of 200 people allowed in the Park.

Mayor Wall commended the work of local event management company Shannon Star Entertainment for helping to bring all aspects together. “The support from our own Health and Safety Department in Kerry County Council along with the Tralee Municipal District members and staff to ensure the Event Management Company have the tools they need to present the 10 day of activities where everyone feels safe and secure,” he said.
