Ten New COVID-19 Cases Reported For Kerry This Evening

THERE were 10 new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening which is a marked increase from daily figures for the  county over the past week.

There were six additional deaths and 612 more cases reported nationally. All of these deaths occurred in February.
The median age of those who died was 63 years and the age range was 41 – 86 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 51.5 per 100,000 people. There have been 56 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 9. Kerry is still the county with the lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days. The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 212.2.

289 in Dublin, 45 in Limerick, 34 in Longford, 33 in Galway, 26 in Kildare and the remaining 185 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

There have now been 219,592 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,319 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 554 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 133 are in ICU. There have been 19 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Thursday (25 February), there have been 409,529 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
• 271,594 people have received their first dose
• 137,935 people have received their second dose
