Ten Refugee Families To Arrive In Tralee In Early December

Kerry County Council logoTEN refugee families from Lebanon will be arriving in Tralee in the coming weeks as part of the national resettlement programme.

Two more families will be housed in Killarney, while a further 17 families will arrive in Kerry early next year.

The interagency team – comprising Kerry County Council, Tralee International Resource Centre, the Killarney Asylum Seeker Centre, the HSE and An Garda Síochána – set up in the county had originally planned for five families to be located in Killarney, but the availability of accommodation was not there.

The families come from Lebanon where there are 1.4m refugees in a country with a 4.5m population.

The inter-agency team in the county is continuing to make the arrangements for the resettlement, while the families are currently at the refugee orientation centre in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare. They will come to Kerry in early December.
