It’s the weekend and a very busy one at that, with family entertainment, a quiz, a charity walk and much, much more to see and do…

Friday

1. A beautiful start to the weekend…

CH Chemists will host national IMAGE Skincare Trainer, Caroline Casey, at a special event. She will be going through all the new lines in IMAGE Vital C & Ageless Range and will be giving the perfect resolutions to aging later.

2. Getting Lippy…

The Tralee premiere of a new short film ‘Silence Is Golden — From Birth To Death’ made by four women, Miriam Moriarty Owens, Selina Switzer, Rebecca Kemp and Mary Tuohy, around the theme of domestic violence, will take place in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel at 8pm.

After the launch of the movie there will be a ‘Lippy Sing’ event and disco. Special guest for the event is Cllr Toireasa Ferris who will be performing along with other acts.

Brian Hurley is MC for the evening and judges include Mary O’Donnell and Breeda Hurley. Tickets will be available at the door at €15.

3. Quiz time…

Dan Horan.

Dan Horan of Horan’s Health Stores will be asking the questions in a table quiz at Linnane’s Bar on Rock Street and he’s promising a great night of entertainment with spot prizes galore.

It’s all in aid of Recovery Haven Cancer Support House. Tables of four are €20 and the fun starts from 9pm.

4. And another quiz…

If you’re into music, then Megan Tearle is holding a musical table quiz at the Na Gaeil club in Killeen beginning at 8pm where you can test your knowledge. There’s lots of spot prizes. The night is in aid of Recovery Haven and Youth Music Theatre.

Saturday

5. Darkness Into Light…

It’ll be an early start for thousands of people all around the country as the annual Darkness Into Light walks in aid of Pieta House take place at 4.15am.

The Tralee walk takes place at from CBS The Green. The other Kerry walks take place in Listowel, Dingle, Killarney, Glenbeigh, Cahersiveen, Caherdaniel and Kenmare. To register for the event click here and follow the instructions.

6. A day of music for Donal…

A day of music on the streets of Tralee to remember Donal Walsh on the 5th anniversary of his death will take place on Saturday.

Willie Kelly and Jim O’Connor decided to get a number of acts together, spread around The Mall and The Square, playing music during Saturday afternoon from 12 noon to around 5pm.

There’ll also be a jugglers, a gospel choir, face-painters and more for a free day of entertainment.

Sunday

7. The Excellent EXPO…

Ok, it’s not in Tralee, but out the road at the INEC in Killarney there is an incredible range of free entertainment and a host of exhibits at the Kerry EXPO 2018.

There’s too much to mention here, but if you click on this link you’ll find out about all the EXPO has to offer and believe me it sounds great. It starts at 11am and goes on until 5pm.

8. It’s County Fair time…

The Kingdom County Fair celebrates its 70th birthday with a whole host of competitions and entertainment on the day.

Thousands of people are set to make their way to Ballybeggan for the event. There’s a lot to look forward to for families with the Fanzini Brothers, bouncy castles, kiddies disco, face painting, piglet racing, bonny baby and much more. The agricultural shows start at 10am and the fun continues all day. Tickets are €15 with kids under 12 going in free.

9. Kerry in action…

The Kerry hurlers are in action in Austin Stack Park against Laois in the second match of the Joe McDonagh Cup. The Kingdom will be hoping for a win after their defeat to Carlow last Sunday. Throw-in is at 3pm.

10. A concert for Recovery Haven..

Kerry Choral Union will host their much anticipated Spring Concert at St John’s Church, Ashe Street, Tralee at 7.30pm.

Now an annual event, the wonderful concert of choral music will be conducted by Sharon Reidy and is being organised once again to raise vital funds for cancer support charity, Recovery Haven Kerry.

Tickets for the event are priced at €10 and are currently on sale from Recovery Haven’s Tralee base at 5 Haig’s Terrace or from Kerry Choral Union members.
