WE’RE still waiting for the next candidate to be elected to Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council, after the result of the sixth count for the Tralee Electoral Area failed to put Cllr Terry O’Brien over the quota.

Five seats remain to be filled after Cllrs Norma Foley and Toireasa Ferris were re-elected earlier. Cllr O’Brien is now on 1,613, just 12 votes below the quota of 1,625 (see full result below).

Behind him is Mikey Sheehy on 1,366 Jim Finucane on 1,297. They’re followed by Pa Daly on 1,235 and Sam Locke in seventh place on 1,000, looking good for the last seat.

The sixth count at the John Mitchels GAA Complex, saw the votes of Mary Fitzgibbon of Aontú distributed. The votes of Labour candidate Ben Slimm, who has now been eliminated — will be distributed for the seventh count.
