ECO-theologian and Columban Missionary Fr. Sean McDonagh will be the speaker for the Diocese of Kerry Earth Week 2016.

His talk, entitled “The Prophetic Challenge of Laudato Si”, will take place in St Brendan’s Parish Centre, Upper Rock Street, Tralee on Thursday 21 April at 7.30pm.

Fr Mc Donagh will also launch his new book,  titled ‘On Care for Our Common Home’ and published by Orbis Books. This takes the encyclical’s full text and adds McDonagh’s reflections on its various themes: among them, climate change, biodiversity, water scarcity and threats to the oceans, and the food crisis.

In addition, McDonagh recaps the development of Catholic theology on creation of the past half-century, and offers ideas on how to transform Pope Francis’ vision in Laudato Si’ into meaningful action and a central piece of Catholic theology.

This event is a highlight of Earth Week which runs from 17th to the 23rd April, and is being organised by the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Committee (JPIC).

This year all parishes and parishioners have been invited to explore and take practical steps on biodiversity. All are welcome. There is no charge.
