There’s A Lot Happening At Craft Makers This Month

Craft Shop 1THERE is a lot going on at the Craft Makers Centre this month which will be of interest to many people interested in creative arts.

A beginners painting course with Roisín McGuigan will take place on Thursday mornings:  10th, 17th and 24th 10.30-1.00pm.

It costs €100 for the three weeks and refreshments will be provided. The course will cover landscape composition, colour, and technique. Designed to be relaxing yet informative with a combination of a demonstration and guidance.

On Friday morning November 11, there will be a felting workshop with Úna Ní Shé. €20. 10.30-12.30pm. Adults only.

Join Úna as she shares  the joy of working with felt. Titled the’ Birds and Bees’ workshop, participants can make dry felt butterflies, finished using wet felting methods as well as experimental felt fabrics using the butterfly theme for inspiration.

On Friday, November 18, Paper Crafting Class for Adults with Felicia Thomas will take place. €40. 10.00-2.00pm.

This class is an introduction to photo album making.  Participants will make an album with a hinge binding using decorative papers -perfect for a personalised Christmas present.

All materials will be provided and you don’t need any experience – just come along and enjoy the class!

On Saturday, November 19, the Ashe Street Quarter Street Festival will celebrate independent shopping in Tralee, Ashe Street will offer, for one day only, street musicians, artists, food tastings, discounts and promotions in its shops and eateries.

On Tuesday evenings 15th, 22nd, 29th, a Life Drawing Course with Roisín McGuigan will take place from 8-10pm (€125). Deposit on booking required.

Working from the life model, this course helps  improve all aspects of  drawing skills: observation, shading, proportions and composition. An intensive course for intermediate and advanced participants.

On Wednesday evenings 16th, 23rd & 30th Drawing with Pencil, a follow-on Introductory Course with Roisín McGuigan. 7.00-9.00pm. €80 p/person for the full course.

On Friday, the 25th, a jewellery-making for adults with designer Kelly Marie McElligott. €20. 11.00-1.00pm.

An introduction to the art of hand assembled jewellery. Looking at structure, shape and form, participants will learn a variety of simple techniques to create lovely pieces of jewellery.

On Saturday the 26th, a Polly Dolly Painting Class will take place – €20. 12-2pm. Ages 8+. Create a whimsical doll on canvas using mixed media. No painting experience necessary. All materials will be provided.

On Saturday the 26th, there will be Screen Printing with artist Edel Wilson. Ages 8+. 2.30-5.30pm €25. 1-4pm.

Learn the basics of screen printing making hand cut stencils and mark making. Using your own drawing discover and learn how to transform your design into a 1-3 colour screen print.

Screen printing onto a range of papers , basic calico and cotton fabric. Please feel free to bring along your own materials to print onto, ensuring what you choose has a flat surface.
