IT was a night of fine food and great entertainment, but best of all, over €9,000 was raised for a great cause at The Rose Hotel earlier this month.
Over 100 guests were present on April 5 to see executive chef of The Rose Hotel, Odran Lucey, executive chef of The Marker Hotel, Gareth Mullins, executive pastry chef and executive chef of The Merrion Hotel, Paul Kelly and Ed Cooney serve up amazing dishes at the ‘Celebrity Chef’ night.
Manager of Recovery Haven in Tralee, Siobhan Sweeney, expressed her thanks to all involved as she was joined at the hotel by centre volunteers to collect the cheque for €9,215 on Thursday evening from owners of The Rose Hotel, Dick and Eibhlín Henggeler.

“On behalf of all of us at Recovery Haven we extend our gratitude to all involved on the night, the chefs, those who attended, the Rose Hotel staff and of course Dick and Eibhlín Henggeler. It was a wonderful event which far exceeded our expectations.”
“We had a large attendance on the evening which we were very pleased with,” said General Manager of The Rose Hotel, Mark Sullivan. “The chefs who travelled and Odran Lucey here, served up some fantastic food and it went very well, but the important thing was the amount of money raised and how generous people were,” he added.
The auctions for a round of golf at St Andrews in Scotland and at Waterville Golf Course were successful and donations were also made on the night by guests.
Having already held successful charity events for Kerry Cancer Support Group in January and Recovery Haven last month, Mark said they will be holding another event for a local charity later this year.
