THREE local charities were recipients of cheques on Monday morning totalling €1,100 at Kerry College of Further Education, the proceeds from events held by the college.

“Kerry College of Further Education (KCFE), of Kerry Education and Training Board, strives to foster a culture of ‘caring and support’ within their student body and this was certainly evident during the last academic year with their launch of the ‘KCFE – Kerry College Fundraising Events’,” said Principal of KCFE, Mary Lucey.

This initiative which evolved through KCFE’s Student Council body saw a variety of unusual and collaborative fundraising events being organised to support local charities within the community.

This week saw the proceeds of the year’s events being donated to a number of Charities by Principal, Mary Lucey, along with Student Council members.  The Charities who received the donations were St Vincent De Paul, Jigsaw and Tralee Soup Kitchen, Tralee.

“The students are wonderful ambassadors for the College and demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, determination and ability to collaborate to get these events organised and funds raised.  It is very apt that all the student groups nominated local charities and organisations to receive the funding raised and it is a wonderful way of “giving back” to the local community,” said Mary Lucey.

“Kerry College look forward to welcoming our new September intake of students to continue and expand the Kerry College Fundraising Events initiative,” she added.
