Pride of Place LogoTHE three Kerry entries in the IPB Pride of Place awards will be judged today and tomorrow.

IPB Pride of Place is an all-island competition, which is directed towards recognising improvements by local communities to create civic pride in their area. The competition focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their area.

It is hosted by Co-operation Ireland under its Local Authority Programme in conjunction with the all-island Steering Forum.

The three entries for 2016 are Glencar Community under the population category; The Rural Mens Project
and Imagining Iveragh.

The three entries have a maximum of two and a half-hours to impress the judges – Mr Eddie Sheehy and Mr Terry O Niadh who are retired Local Authority County Managers – with all their hard work and diligence.

During the visit, the judges will be typically introduced to the community representatives and physically visit showcase locations to demonstrate Pride of Place.

The Pride of Place 2016 winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Belfast in November.
