Early January is pretty miserable but there’s still a few things to get up to over the weekend…

Friday

1. Test your knowledge…

There’s two table quizzes tonight in town. One is the Kerry heat of The Big Ireland Quiz in aid Muscular Dystrophy Ireland/ It takes place in O’Donnell’s Mounthawk at 7:30pm and the cost per team is €50 (team of 4).

The big attraction here is that the two winning teams will qualify for the a National Grand Final and the chance to win the €1,000 cash prize, on Saturday January 27 in the Dtwo Bar and Nightclub in Harcourt Street Dublin.

Meanwhile, over in Na Gaeil,  a table quiz for in aid of the Tralee Humorous Verse Competition takes place at 8pm. Teams of four €20 or €5 per person.

3. Cycle to remember Jimmy…

If you fancy something more energetic than a walk, the Jimmy Duffy Memorial Cycle takes place  at 11am from St. Pat’s GAA Club, Blennerville.

The event is held annually to remember the local musician and keen cyclist who was 67 years old when he died as a result of smoke inhalation after fire at his home on Church Street, Blennerville, in January 2010.

The cycle will travel to Castleisland town centre and back home followed by refreshments, tea and coffee in Quanes Bar Blennerville.

Unfortunately, due to the provision of Insurance and Ambulance services, a fee of €5 per person to a maximum of €15 per family will be charged on the day.  Registration will commence from 10am.
