Three Tralee Artists To Showcase At Killorglin KFest

Posted by

THE KFest Arts festival takes place over the weekend in Killorglin and will showcase work from three Tralee artists.

Mary Leen the creator of a stain-glass memorial to Donal Walsh which was unveiled in the The Green school recently will be taking her talents quite literally on the road.

She has converted the windows in her van to stained-glass. The concept of the installation “is to bring art out of the galleries and to make it accessible to the general public,” said Mary.

The work entitled ‘Dreams Of Love And Light’ will depict a man and woman floating around the van towards each other surrounded by rich azure blue glass. The piece will also be enhanced by music coming from inside the van. (continued below pic)

Tricia O’Connor who also works as an energy therapist has taken inspiration from her work to come up with a concept for the festival.

“According to scientists, we only use two strands of DNA and the rest is junk DNA. The records of your soul supposedly resides in your junk DNA,” Tricia says.

“These twelve strands are believed to connect us to twelve different dimensions. I have been inspired to create a new dimension, a state of Paradise, where citizens are free, where masks and facades do not exist,” she said.

Dominique Ammann  who runs the Pause/Play vintage boutique in Milk Market Lane will also be making the trip to Killorglin.

“My work represents the unknown humanity, the past present and future, my work is Sci-fi and a mix of all of the above,” Dominique says.

Mary will be displaying her work in the underground car park in the town and Tricia and Dominique will be at the top of the town in an old chip shop across the road from the KFest information centre.
