THE success of Garvey’s Tralee Warriors has not gone unnoticed this season, with two of their players making the Irish basketball squad.
Kieran Donaghy and Ryan Leonard are among the 20 players named in head coach Pete Strickland’s squad.
There are eight of the 12 Men’s Super League teams represented on the squad which also includes another Tralee man, Cian Sullivan, who plays his basketball over in La Salle University in Philadelphia.
The former Mercy Mounthawk student went to the US on a scholarship in 2015 and is currently starring for the university’s Explorers team.
The Irish squad is to get together in early April to prepare for the 2018 Small Nations Tournament.
Meanwhile Warriors got a great write up from ballineurope.com where journalist Emmet Ryan describes the experience at the Tralee side’s game on Saturday night against Swords, which is well worth a read (click here).
