Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Ireland On Thursday Evening

WE had a wind and rain warning at the weekend, but now it’s thunderstorms we’re being notified about.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow – Thunder warning for Ireland taking effect from 4pm on Thursday until 9am on Friday.

Heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop later on Thursday and Thursday night with some severe downpours, hail and spot flooding. Met Éireann says that due to the localised nature of thunderstorms some parts of the country will remain dry.

Despite the nationwide warning, Kerry looks like it will escape any rain on Thursday and indeed for most of Friday.

Its seven day rainfall radar shows heavy rain developing through the midlands and Connacht but avoiding Kerry altogether. However, this has been known to change so check it again tomorrow for a more accurate forecast.
