THE beautiful surrounds of Fenit will once again play host to Tri Kingdom Come which is expected to be bigger and better than ever.

Last year almost 400 triathletes took part in the Tralee Triathlon Club organised event and it is hoped that similar numbers will once again descend on Fenit on Saturday August 5 to be part of one of Kerry’s most scenic triathlons.

Tri Kingdom Come was officially launched last week and registration is now open.

Triathletes from across Kerry can now sign up for the summer event and due to huge interest in Tri Kingdom Come, the advcse is to sign up soon.

The sprint triathlon is a 750m swim; a 20km cycle and a 5km run; all within the environs of Fenit.

For those who have never tried a triathlon or want a shorter distance than the Try-a-Tri distance is perfect. This is a 250m swim, an 8k cycle and a 2.5k run and it will give you a taster of the world of triathlon.

Relay teams are also welcome to take part in Tri Kingdom Come. This year Tralee Triathlon Club have got huge support from local clubs who are helping ensure a well organised, safe and fun event for triathletes and their supporters.

Funds from the event will be donated to local clubs who are assisting as well as to Fenit RNLI who are charity partners of the event. Last year they received €2,000 from Tralee Triathlon club.

Race director, John Quilter, says that everyone is looking forward to Tri Kingdom Come.

“We are working behind the scenes to make this a real community event for athletes across Kerry and further afield to enjoy. Whether it’s a PB or a chance to race in beautiful Fenit this is the event for you,” he said.

“It is going to be a a great event so don’t miss out on being part of Tri Kingdom Come. We also want to make sure that this year’s event is all about the local community with local clubs and organisations working together on this event.”

All participants will get a medal as well as a few other surprises that are in store for this year’s participants.

There will also be a BBQ for competitors and spectators. Registration details for Tri Kingdom Come are now on www.sportstiming.ie or through Tralee Triathlon Club’s Facebook page or website.

Anyone looking to start training for Tri Kingdom Come and join Tralee Triathlon Club can also contact the club on www.traleetriclub.ie and via Facebook.
