A STREET collection for earthquake victims in Nepal will take in town on Saturday and the collection organiser is looking for volunteers.

On April 25, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Napal causing widespread devastation and a death toll estimated to be over 8000.

While Nepal was still recovering, on Tuesday this week, there were more fatalities when a second earthquake hit the developing nation.

The collection organiser, Tom Moriarty, trekked to Everest base camp in 2013 with Childaid and visited several orphanages while he was there.

“I been have informed that buildings in the orphanage  have been destroyed and the children are living in tents,” said Tom Moriarty. “If I could get a little help from the good people of Tralee that would be most appreciative.”

Proceeds from the collection will go to Childaid in Nepal, who have been helping orphaned children in Nepal for over 20 years.
