From new businesses to Rose Ball glamour and viral videos, we countdown the 10 stories that garnered the most page views on the TraleeToday.ie website in 2017…

Note: All figures below are page views on the website, not Facebook reach which is entirely different.

10. Scam warning…

Back in March, gardai were warning people who work in chain stores around the county  a scam where a person buys an item in one store and later goes into another store in the same chain.

The person then picks up the same item that they bought in the previous store and goes to the counter, with the receipt, and asks for a refund.

A lot of people were interested in the story which got 13,673 page views. Click here for the story

9. A farewell to Buddy…

A video of Mercy Mounthawk saying goodbye to retiring caretaker Buddy O’Grady was an emotional one which many people wanted to see. It accumulated 13,926 page views. Click here for the story

For some strange reason, a lot of people wanted to see what the contestants in the Miss Kerry competition looked like. The post got 14,654 page views. Click here for the story.

5. A good news story…

Back in September, we told you about Lucie Hanrahan and David Leonard  who returned from New Zealand to start a new business.

They opened ‘Ugly Mug’ coffee shop on Edward Street and a lot of people wanted to learn about it. The story racked up 16,322 page views. Click here for the story.

Sure what else could it be. The Fleming family from Ballymac captured the attention of the world when a bat flew into their kitchen in September, but it was our story about their appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show that gets our most viewed story of the year.
