OVER 32 years since first opening in town, Total Cleaning Supplies has come full circle with a new store in a location which has seen a huge rejuvenation in the last year.
Since its foundation 33 years ago in the Tralee Shopping Arcade, the company has been synonymous with quality and reliability.
Owner, Marelda Brosnan, told us about the history of the business.
“The business first opened in 1982 on the first floor of the leisure arcade by my brother Tony O’Connor and Tom Roche. They stocked a range of Nilfisk equipment, floor maintenance machines and chemicals. We later moved to Ashe Street and stayed there for 20 years extending our range to other products. As the business grew we had to move to our premises in Clash in 2003.”

Marelda explained the reasons for opening a second store in the Horan Centre, which has seen a huge rejuvenation over the past 12 months with the opening of several new businesses, not least, Iceland, which is proving a huge draw to the area.
“The reason for opening here is to accommodate people who find it inconvenient to travel up to Clash and some people are unaware that we are a retailer as well. Many think we are just a wholesaler. There is a huge footfall here now with Iceland and Argos on either side of us and there is a big car park nearby,” said Marelda.
The store in Clash is, of course, still open from Monday to Friday, but the new store at the Horan Centre will be open six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm.

“We will continue to serve our customers here as we do in Clash, even vacuum repairs can be dropped in here,” said Marelda.
The store stocks all the cleaning products you’ll find in Clash – the leading brands of cleaning products, kitchenware and much more, including seasonal products.
“We have people coming in and stocking up for Christmas with candles we have here inside the front door, along with other items,” said Niamh Brosnan.
Total Cleaning Supplies is a welcome addition to the thriving business hub that is the Horan Centre.
