Town Park And Tralee Bay Wetlands Awarded Green Flags

GREEN Flag Awards were announced today for Tralee Town Park and Tralee Bay Wetlands by An Taisce Environmental Education, acknowledging Ireland’s best public parks and gardens.

Green Flags were also awarded to Killarney House and Gardens, Childers Park & Woodlands in Listowel and Derrynane Historic Park.

Under the Pollination Awards, Tralee Bay Wetlands, were commended also for their ongoing work on Biodiversity. Derrynane Historic Park also received Green Heritage Site Accreditation.

On behalf of the Wetlands team, Mary O’Connor said; “How absolutely delighted all the management and team are to receive the International Green Flag award and the entire team plan to continue to improve all elements of the Park with a constant focus on Biodiversity and the Environment.”

She said the entire team at Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco & Activity Park are very grateful for the support  received from Tidy Towns and Transition Kerry and of course all in Kerry County Council who support ongoing work & environmental endeavours in the Wetlands.

Only awarded for exceeding tough environmental standards in green space management, and excellence of visitor attractions – the Green Flag Award Scheme is the mark of a quality park or green space and is recognised throughout the world.

This year participating European countries include Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
