Town Park Receives Funding For Signage And Repairs

FUNDS have been made available for repairs, signage and footpath overlay in Tralee Town Park thanks to the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme where a number of rural recreation projects in Kerry will share €189,189.

NEWKD will get €14,400 for work in Tralee Town Park and the only other Tralee project to benefit is €11,098 for a map and information signs at Killeen Wood.

Among the other projects to receive funding are for showers and a temporary boardwalk at Inch Strand (€20,000) and a visitor telescope on the Cliff Road in Ballybunion (€20,000).

The grants awarded relate to small local projects, with funding of up to €20,000 being provided for maintenance.

Seanad Leas-Cathaoirleach Senator Paul Coghlan, has welcomed the allocation.

“Aside from the obvious tourism benefits, it’s also hugely important that we maintain and develop our outdoor infrastructure to encourage everyone to keep fit and live a healthy active lifestyle.

“These projects will enhance existing recreational facilities for the benefit of the communities who use them every day, and also for the many tourists who enjoy visiting our rural areas.”
