TRALEE’S own Hollywood actor, Timothy V Murphy, is set to have the lead role in a new TV series where even his character is from Kerry.

The actor from Oakpark, who shot to fame in Ireland as Conor in ‘Glenroe’ back in the early 90s, has been Stateside for well over a decade now and has had acclaimed roles in some of the most popular TV shows on US TV, including NCIS LA, Sons Of Anarchy and Criminal Minds.

He was on our TV screens only recently in Hawaii Five O on Sky.

Now he is set to star as Fr Babbot in ‘Holy Roller’, a series which is currently in development. The show will chronicle the scandalous double-life of Kerry-born Monsignor Frank C. Babbot. The by-product of an Irish working girl and a degenerate gambler for a father, Babbot is summoned to Las Vegas to help resurrect a parish on the brink of collapse.

Adept at cooking the books, Babbot feeds his drink and gambling addictions by stealing funds from the votive candles, gift shop and other charitable donations – always with the intent of doubling the Lord’s money.

While the show is only in the development stage, it looks promising and could catapult Murphy into the big time.

May God go with you Tim.
