On Saturday we saw the Irish Subbuteo roadshow move onto Wexford for round 4 of the open.
Venue: This was Subbuteo coming to rural Ireland as we headed deep into Wexford to St Molings community centre. To be fair the centre was in excellent condition, well maintained, with a large hall, kitchen and toilet facilities.
Attendance: We had 10 players for this tournament. Which considering the time of year and location, was an excellent turnout.
Format: We played a straight league competition of 9 matches each, playing each other once on 5 tables.
Personal: This was my 3rd tournament. Mixed feelings on this. A bit disappointed to get beaten 8 times but after that it was all positive. I scored my first comp goals (7 in total) and chalked up my first win. Without doubt my general play is improving and with more practice I have a certain level in my sights.
Outcome: The competition went pretty much to form with Kenny pipping Mark Farrell to first place. Well done to Gerry Harrington for making the big trip from Suffolk, Tommy who was making his debut and Daniel who is coming on in leaps and bounds. Ireland’s big youth prospect.

On Monday 28th November it was back to club business at The Klub Bar in Strand Road. For the first time we had 4 players as we welcomed Greg to the fold.

We played a format of 6 games in a 4 team league. Dave playing with Aston Villa just pipped Williams Arsenal to first place with Greg’s Manchester Utd and Cian’s Italy bringing up the final places. All the games were really close affairs and there isn’t a great deal between any of us.

Our next meeting will be at the Klub Bar towards the end of December. New members are more than welcome and you can get more information on our Facebook page: Subbuteo Table Football Munster.
