Tralee-Based Poet Shortlisted For Prestigious Book Awards

A TRALEE-BASED poet has been shortlisted for a Costa Book Award.

It was revealed yesterday that Victoria Kennefick is in the running with three other poets in the poetry book category, for her first collection, Eat or We Both Starve.

The Costa Book Awards began in 1971 and is recognised as one of the UK’s most prestigious and popular book prizes, championing authors based in the UK and Ireland for nearly 50 years.

Last month, Victoria’s collection was also one of ten shortlisted entries for the prestigious T.S. Eliot Prize 2021, with a top prize of £25,000. The winner of both the Costa Book and T.S. Eliot Awards will be announced in January.

Eat or We Both Starve is also an Irish Times Best Poetry Book for 2021 and was also selected as one of The Telegraph’s Best Poetry Books to Buy 2021.
