The Winter Swimming got off to a great start last Sunday morning with 9 swimmers braving the cold squally morning and the choppy water. Some did a couple of minutes and a few more headed out around the buoys. Water temperature was measured at 10.2c . This year we are running a Turkey Series which will take place every Sunday morning at 11 regardless of conditions.
Everyone contributes a couple of euro and your name goes in the hat for a draw. So if you swim 7 Sunday’s your name will be in the hat 7 times. On the last Sunday , December the 14th , Santa will be there to draw out the prize winner for a Turkey. There will also be Loads of other prizes to be won !
Everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a club swimmer . It’s all about a bit of fun, just wet your toes or have a long swim. Whatever you are comfortable with . Traditionally, the winter swims are non wetsuit , but if you prefer to wear one , come along anyway . The more , the merrier. Plenty of tea, coffee , hot chocolate soup and goodies available afterwards! It’s a great way to start a Sunday morning and great training for the Christmas Day Swim.
