Winter Swimming ……..Turkey Series Round 1 ….. An amazing , record breaking 42 swimmers showed up this morning for the start at of our winter swims ..all non wetsuit!
Beautiful sunshine greeted everyone but a biting easterly wind was also present and a good swell in the water ..Air temp was 9c and water temp was10.5c . Congrats to all and if you were new today and felt the cold …it does get better!!
As the swimmers prepared to enter the water , they gathered for a photo and then a moments silence was observed for the late Anthony Foley . Anthony’s sister , Rosie is an active member of Tralee Bay Swimming Club and is a regular winter swimmer.
Distances ranged from just wetting the legs to a mile . Teas , coffees , hot chocolate and buns and cakes were enjoyed by all ! And The Turkey kitty is off to a great start ! So I hope to see you all again next Sunday , Photos Dan McCarthy.
