Tralee Bay Swimming ClubThe Brendan OCallaghan Cup

The 5th swim in The World Series took place lays Wednesday evening in very challenging conditions. A
strong south westerly was blowing into the bay . The water however was very warm at 18c . Group C were first to go ,followed closely by B and A , and a total of 57 swimmers took on the swim from The bathing slip to the pier buoy and back . The fastest time of the night was From Michael O Connell Jnr who covered the c1400 metres in an incredible 18mins 36. Secs. . After Handicaps ere applied Winner of Group A was James Slade , Group B Thomas McCarthy and Group. C Pa OSullivan . Congratulations to all .

Swimmer of The Year 

The swimmer of the year table after round 5 has Donal Fitzgibbon at the top with 14 points followed closely by Declan
Crowe and Cathy Fisher . However there is a huge chasing pack after that and with 3 rounds to go it is still anybodies . Our wards night will take place in Swptember where The Swimmer of The Year trophy will be presented.We will also present the perpetual cups to all the winners and ……1st, 2’nd and 3rd prizes in each group . Make sure to secure your tickets !

The Lighthouse Swim 

The 6th round of The World Series takes place this Thursday eve from the bathing slp . This is a favourite on the calendar . With the current clear water swimmers will be able to take in some spectacular scenery on the rocky bottom at the lighthouse . A few dolphins have been spotted playing here over the last few weeks . This is a challenging swim which can involve strong currents and heavy swells . We will have a BBQ afterwards where we will be joined by The lads and lassies of The Kingdom Swimming Club . This is our next generation of open water swimmers and will have been put through the paces in the bay by John. Edwards . A huge welcome to them !

The English Channel

The club would like to extend a HUge congratulations to club member , Rosie Foley who completed a solo swim of The. English. Channel last week in a time of 15hrs and 50 mins . Rosie hails from a proud sporting family in Killaloe and her sporting achievements are tremendous . Her brother Anthony is The Munster Rugby Coach . It’s a great story of hard work and determination and living your dreams . Rosie proudly wore her Tralee Bay. Swimming Cap throughout her swim .
