Tralee Boxing Club Hosts Kerry Development Squad Training

Members from boxing clubs all over the county at the Kerry Development Squad training at Tralee Boxing Club on Saturday.

THE newly reformed Kerry Boxing Development Squad training took place at the weekend hosted by Tralee Boxing Club and organised by the Kerry County Boxing Board.

Members of clubs from all over Kerry came together early on Saturday to train under the watchful eye of the Kerry coaches.

Two sessions took place where the boxers were put through a tough first session under the leadership of Tralee coach Lee, while all the club coaches pitched in where needed.

The second session consisted of in-house sparring and technical sparring for the boxers to gain valuable experience and knowledge from all the coaches.

“It was a great experience and all the boxers worked very hard. To say the least, it was emotional day as we were delighted to get this training back up and running for the betterment of Kerry boxing. We hope to run this training once a month in different clubs around Kerry,” said Chairperson  of the County Board Jennifer O’Sullivan Coffey and Niamh Ball, Secretary.

“We just want to say thank you to Tralee Boxing club for hosting the training session in their club, to our amazing Kerry county board and committee members, without ye it wouldn’t be possible,” added the ladies.

The coaches on the day were Lee, Tommy, Noel and Lynda from Tralee Boxing Club, Maria, Niamh and Graham from Trojan Boxing Club and Jennifer, John and Alex form Sliabh Luachra Boxing and Tony Goggin of Ballyduff Boxing Club.
