The Countdown is on, just one week to go to Tralee Boxing Club Summer Camp!

Hope everyone is looking forward to a week of fun and games with the coaches and volunteers. Places are filling up fast, and no wonder, since boxing training gives our little champs confidence and helps focus them.

It also helps children sleep better, improves reaction time and memory. Not to mention, it is a great way to keep your children fit and healthy.

Boxing is one of the best ways to combat obesity in kids because it is an individual competitor sport and although we train as a team and encourage each other wholeheartedly, there is always a higher focus on improving each individual child unlike traditional team sports.

It may be a bit of a cliché nowadays, but boxing has always built character and confidence in kids. It helps the small people in our lives to find their inner strength, overcome obstacles, and become much more successful at dealing with issues such as anger, and restlessness.

There are still a handful of places left in Summer Camp over the two weeks, July 18th -21st, and 25th -28th, contact Lynda for booking or more details on 087 766 3406.

Tralee Boxing Club is delighted to announce that the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has facilitated the inclusion of a number of Ukrainian refugee children in our Summer Camp this year.

A huge thank you is due to all at Kerry County Council for advice and support in achieving this. TBC’s project, supported by the Community Integration Fund, ‘ Building Friendship and Strength, One Punch at a Time’, aims to help alleviate the trauma of Ukrainian children separated from the security of their family members, especially fathers and brothers.

We hope that through the medium of boxing we can help support the wellbeing and mental health of our friends in the Ukrainian community.

We believe that involvement in our community club can help people displaced by war to repair the social and emotional disruption they have suffered, by building trust, improving self confidence,  fitness and language skills through shared activities with local club members.

We also hope that being part of our club, will help our new friends come to better understand Irish culture and values, and to experience the well known craic we are famous for.

We are proud to say we have a number of Ukrainian boxers, of all experience levels, who train regularly with us here at the club, and their presence has served to energise and diversify the club wonderfully.

Finally, Tralee Boxing Club will hold it’s AGM this week, all Club members are welcome to attend. The meeting will be held on Thursday 14th July, at 7:30pm in Benner’s Hotel.

The meeting is a forum where all club members may voice their opinions or ideas on any issues relevant to the club. To propose a topic for discussion or to make a comment, club members are invited to pop on the TBC WhatsApp group and let us know what’s important to you.
